Welcome to #lovehardproject! This is my first attempt EVER to write a blog. I can't tell if I am scared or excited since the physical symptoms are the same for both! I just know that if I don't start somewhere, I won't get any better at it.
Before I go any further, I want to take a moment and thank all of our loyal Facebook and Instagram group members. I love the support you give to one another and to me and my family. I believe you are the reason that I was lead to create the group. For those of you who don't know our story, I will share a little of it here.
The #lovehardproject was created in honor of my daughter, Kylee Bruce, who died in a car accident on 12/20/2016. (That's her in the photo). She was 18 weeks into her first pregnancy. We were devastated and I couldn't think any further ahead than the next minute. My niece stepped in from two states away and set up a Go Fund Me account which helped ease the worry about funeral expenses. I belong to a fitness group that had 7,000 members, and as soon as one of the women found out, the news spread rapidly. They shared the fundraiser and within hours we had enough to ease the financial burden. At the same time, Kylee's boyfriend, Brandon, had lost his love and his child. He sat down to try to put his thoughts into words, posted it on Facebook, and turned off his phone. The rest, as they say, is history. His story went viral and I think within less than 12 hours, the post had made it around the world. Donations came flooding in and this is why #lovehardproject exists. We used what we needed for expenses and the rest is going to projects that help make a difference in people's lives. That is what Ky was all about--joy, fun, helping others, and loving hard.
As we embark on this next phase of the plan, I invite you to check in often to see what we are up to. Very soon we will have #lovehardproject merchandise, a link where you can make donations, and a place for you to nominate organizations or charities for us to be involved in. We have something in the works that will allow anyone who wishes to participate the opportunity to serve others in their own communities. We are excited about that! Until next time, love hard and find joy in the journey!
